What makes it 80's

A real-looking photo

Not a drawing: a photographic portrait with film grain and a warm, slightly faded print.

Neon laser backdrop

Glowing hot-pink, cyan and violet beams crossing a deep midnight-blue studio canvas.

Era-perfect hair and clothes

Volume, feathering and bold colours, while your face and identity stay yours.

Neon rim light

Magenta and cyan gel lights edge your hair and shoulders, while your face stays in soft, flattering studio light.

How to make one

  1. Pick 80's. The button on this page opens minipic.me with 80's already chosen.
  2. Add a selfie or a sentence. One face in good light, looking at the camera, works best. Or describe anyone (or anything) in a few words.
  3. Keep it. Download PNG or WebP from 64 to 1024 pixels, with the background kept or cut out to transparent, or tweak it ("add a red scarf").

Great for

  • Throwback Thursday posts
  • Class reunion invitations
  • 80s-themed party invites
  • Office "guess who" games
  • Profile pictures that start conversations

Questions

Is this the AI yearbook photo trend?

Yes, done as one polished portrait: one person, head and shoulders, the classic picture-day pose and backdrop.

Does it work from a description?

Yes. "Teenager with a huge perm and a denim jacket" makes a convincing 1985 portrait of someone who never existed.

Is it free?

Your first two avatars are free, no card needed. After that, your first pack is $5 for 12 avatars, then packs start at $9 for 20, and credits never expire.

Do you keep my photo?

A photo you add to draw once is used for that drawing and not kept. Photos you save in People are kept privately until you delete them or your account.
